2020 mental health check

2020 mental health check does not mean I’m a medical doctor by any means; but I know it’s been mentally hard on everyone this year with Covid, losing jobs, the unknown in general.

So with that being said, I am here to give you some tips to get your head in a healthy mindset.

God said to not worry about tomorrow because today has its own problems (Matthew 6:34). This is a constant reminder for me. I need to focus on today. Focus on what can I get done, what can I fix, or what can I do in the situation I’m in. When you try to take on everything you end up overwhelming yourself – nothing gets done and anxiety sets in.

God also said he feeds the birds of the earth (Matthew 6:26). If the Creator of the universe feeds the birds, lions, tigers, and bears – isn’t he going to take care of us? YAAAS girl, He will.

Sometimes when I have anxiety and stress, my husband will say, “Just pray about it,” and it makes me want to stab him in the neck if I’m being honest. Now, I don’t want to push Jesus on you, buuuuut, I know what he says is true. Just talking to God. That’s all it is anyways. Talking to God has always been hot and cold for me. Sometimes I’m really good at it and we’re bro’s again. Sometimes I forget Him and then wonder why I have all this stress in my life. And God’s over here yelling my name and trying to get my attention.

Scripture and talking with my buddy, God, really does help me on the spiritual side of things, especially during this 2020 mental health check.

let’s get physical

Physically? This is where I workout my stress at the gym, and do I feel better afterwards! For women, in the words of Elle Woods, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.”

So I highly recommend exercise no matter how you get it.

Consumption? Drink lots of water! Have a green smoothie. A lot of us forget to drink what our body is mostly made out of – WATER. Drinking water has many benefits:

• It can improve memory and mood…

• Hydrating can help reduce sugar cravings and aid weight maintenance…

• It has the ability to improve exercise performance…

• It can reduce headaches and migraines…

• Water can help prevent constipation in children and adults…

• It is capable of preventing kidney stones…

• It can help reduce the risk of bladder infections…

When you’re dehydrated, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and WRINKLING. So ladies, do it for the wrinkles!!

And finally do something for yourself. Light a candle and read a book. Watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or a movie. Have some girl time. Go get your hair done.

This 2020 mental health check has been quite a year, but I know that you are strong and fierce. You have been courageous through all of it – because you are still here.

“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
